2017 Mazda3 Sedan vs 2017 Mazda3 Hatchback
Mazda keeps things relatively simple by limiting vehicles to only a few different trim levels, but the 2017 Mazda3 complicates things ever so slightly by being available in two different body styles: a sedan and a hatchback. Based on looks alone, you may already have a preference between the two, but what if you’re unsure? Take a look through our 2017 Mazda3 Sedan vs 2017 Mazda3 Hatchback comparison page.
Both the 2017 Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback offer the same affordable pricing, though the sedan version is a touch more affordable at $17,845 versus the $19,095 tag on the Mazda3 hatchback. The two also share the same engine options: a 2.0L I-4 with 155 horsepower or a 2.5L I-4 with 184 horsepower. No matter which model of trim of the Mazda3 you pick up, you can be confident that you’re getting a sporty driving experience.

Differences between the 2017 Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback
So how do these two differ? The 2017 Mazda3 sedan is able to offer slightly more fuel efficiency when both models are equipped with the 2.5L engine (37 MPG vs 35 MPG) -- but the two actually share the same 37 MPG highway efficiency on the base engine. The 2017 Mazda3 Hatchback is also able to equip the 2.5L I-4 at a lower trim level, thanks to the Touring 2.5 model. This trim also adds additional amenities not found on the Mazda3 unless you upgrade to the Grand Touring, like the power moonroof.
The main advantage of going with the 2017 Mazda3 Hatchback over the Sedan model is its increased cargo space. The hatch style allows for you to fold down the rear bench to increase your total cargo capacity to 47.1 cu.ft. Still, the sporty and sleek look of the Mazda3 sedan, along with its reduced price and higher efficiency, might be your preference.
No matter which of these you choose, you can’t go wrong! Want to test out how the 2017 Mazda3 drives and personally see if you notice a difference between the sedan and hatch? Feel free to stop in at Holiday Mazda in Fond du Lac!
