Does Fond du Lac have curbside tree pickup after Christmas?
The city of Fond du Lac no longer offers curbside pickup of Christmas trees, and they have no plans to offer it in the future.
However, if you still want to dispose of your old tree, you can utilize the yard waste disposal site located at the Municipal Service Center. The address is 530 North Doty Street.
Can you burn your Christmas tree in Fond du Lac?
If you want to burn your Christmas tree, you can. Recreational burning is allowed in Fond du Lac, but you must adhere to certain guidelines. You can use an approved fire pit that is a minimum of 6-inches deep and a maximum of 36-inches wide.
If you don’t have a fire pit you can use a commercially available outdoor fireplace. This means you can’t just make a fireplace, it has to be commercially available. Permanent outdoor fireplaces, built out of non-combustible materials are also acceptable. Additional guidelines apply and can be read by following the link below.
Cutting your Christmas tree up before burning is advisable. Having smaller more manageable pieces will help keep the fire under control and also allow you to feed it piece by piece into your fire pit or fireplace. If the needles are already dry and brown, then use caution. Dry needles burn fast and hot and can be dangerous.

Getting rid of a fake Christmas tree
Obviously getting rid of a fake Christmas tree is a little different. It isn’t considered yard waste, and you definitely should not burn it. However, you do have some options. Before throwing it away consider recycling it.
If your fake Christmas tree is still in good shape, you can sell it online or donate it at one of the donation locations below. If possible, you may want to wait and store it until fall of next year when people start looking for Christmas trees again.
