HOW TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE ON YOUR MAZDA CX-5 IF IT ISN’T WORKING
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR MAZDA CX-5 LIFTGATE HATCH WON’T OPEN
Though this doesn’t happen often, there are instances when the Mazda CX-5 liftgate hatch won’t open, most often due to a dead car battery. What should you do if this happens? Thankfully, there is a way to still get the hatch opened up if you need access to the rear cargo area. We’ll help you with that down below.
First and foremost, however, it is recommended you not try to access the hatch if it is not done as an emergency measure. Though there may be situations where you need to manually open the liftgate this way, it’s best to avoid it if possible, as there may be a malfunction in the electrical system that requires attention from certified Mazda technicians.
HOW TO OPEN MAZDA CX-5 LIFTGATE HATCH MANUALLY
Enter the vehicle and gain access to the rear cargo area. You will need to be able to reach the interior of the liftgate hatch.
Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the cap on the liftgate door, located in the center of the hatch near the bottom.
Once the hatch is removed, you should notice a lever. Turning the lever to the right will unlock the liftgate and allow you to open it.
