New top option for the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata
For 2019 the Mazda MX-5 Miata will have a new soft top option. Black is still the standard color, but now you can opt for a brown soft top.
This top is only available on the Mazda MX-5 Miata Grand Touring and it comes with a small $200 premium to the MSRP.
Interior changes on the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata
Standard, the Mazda MX-5 Miata now gets a tilt and telescoping steering column. Speaking of the steering column, for 2019 it will be made out of aluminum as opposed to the steel of previous years. This is done to save on weight.
Added safety features for the 2109 Mazda MX-5 Miata
Safety is still important to the Mazda roadster, and that’s why for 2019 the Mazda MX-5 Miata will be getting some safety upgrades. For starters, the rearview camera system now comes standard on every model.
Smart City Brake Support with low-speed automatic braking is also a new available feature for 2019. It comes standard on every trim but the base Sport, however, it is available as an addition to the Sport trim through the i-ACTIVESENSE Package. This package also adds blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and a lane departure warning system. The 2019 Grand Touring trim also adds traffic sign recognition for the first time.
2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata performance upgrades
Outside of the horsepower boost that we already discussed, the manual transmission models of the Grand Touring trim will now be available with a GT-S performance package that adds a front shock tower brace, Bilstein dampers, and a limited-slip rear differential.
When will the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata be available?
The retractable hardtop version, known as the Mazda MX-5 Miata RF is already available at Mazda dealerships across the country, and dealerships are already receiving stock of the new 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata soft top as well.
