WHY ISN’T MY MAZDA KEYLESS ACCESS WORKING?

January 12th, 2016 by

Mazda Keyless Access is one of our favorite features found in the current lineup of Mazda vehicles, but even the best of options can have a little thing go wrong here and there, and it can be pretty frustrating too! We’re talking of course, of when something like Keyless Access isn’t working. If you’re finding yourself wondering Why isn’t my Mazda Keyless Access working, then we’ve got some tips to get you back on the road!

IF IT LOCKS WITH THE FOB IN THE CAR
If your Mazda is locking itself while the FOB is in the car, without it giving you a loud, warning beep, then something in the system is not working correctly. It could be that the key fob has lost its charge, or possibly that the receiver is acting off. But, you should definitely bring it in to get looked at, and carry around a spare key in the meantime.

HOW TO START A MAZDA WITH A DEAD KEY BATTERY
Press the brake pedal (automatic) or fully press the clutch (for manual).
The push button start indicator light should flash green
Touch the push button start with the backside of the key
Press the push button start with your finger after it fully illuminates (green)
Some Mazda models also have a key slot on the steering column — usually covered — that you can use to start your car. Just insert the key and use the push button start as usual.

FIXING POOR KEY FOB RANGE IN A MAZDA
If your key fob isn’t working until you’re right up to the vehicle, then it might have too low of a charge. The first thing to try is a spare electronic key fob, if you have it, otherwise you can also try putting in a new battery. If this doesn’t work, then the transmitter inside the car could have an issue with it.
