WHAT IS THE 2019 MAZDA CX-5 GRAND TOURING RESERVE?

The Mazda CX-5 lineup grew for 2019. Not only do you have the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trims, but you also get the Grand Touring Reserve and the top Signature trim. We already went over the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature trim in great detail, but what is the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve trim level and how does it differ from the Grand Touring trim level? We have answers.

WHAT DOES THE GRAND TOURING RESERVE TRIM ADD?

There are a lot of bonuses that you get by upgrading to the Grand Touring Reserve trim level. You still get the leather seats from the Grand Touring trim, but they aren’t just heated but ventilated as well. The rear outboard seats and even the steering wheel are also heated at this trim level.

For a few extra added features, the Grand Touring Reserve trim also adds automatic power folding mirrors on the outisde. On the inside you get a ridiculously cool active driving display complete with traffic sign recognition. In case you didn’t know, this active driving display is a heads up display projected right onto your windshield.

PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE FOR THE GRAND TOURING RESERVE TRIM

There is another major difference when you get up to the Grand Touring Reserve trim level. Under the hood, you get a 2.5-liter turbo engine whereas the Grand Touring trim features an engine with the same displacement but no turbo. This means you get up to 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque in the Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve.

Conversely, the Grand Touring trim’s 2.5-liter engine provides up to 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. With this added power at the Grand Touring Reserve trim level, you also get AWD as a standard feature.

WHAT IS THE PRICE DIFFERENCE?

The Grand Touring trim level starts at an MSRP of $30,045 for the 2019 Mazda CX-5, but remember, that’s without all-wheel drive. If you add AWD, the MSRP for the Grand Touring is actually $31,445. The Grand Touring Reserve trim with its turbo engine, standard AWD, and extra features comes in at an MSRP of $34,870.

Overall, at just a little over a $3,000 difference, the Grand Touring Reserve trim with its improved luxuries, added active driving display, and more power is a wonderful value.
