Lease vs. Buy a MAZDA: Which Is Better?

Choosing whether to buy a car or leasing one can be a difficult decision for Oshkosh drivers. For starters, the decision to buy a Mazda is nice, as you get to call it your own. But, leasing a Mazda is cheaper–especially if you’re on a budget. At Holiday Mazda, we want what’s best for you by providing other informative resources on our website, including car-buying tips. If you’re struggling on the decision to lease vs. buy a car or Mazda, continue reading to discover the pros and cons of each option.

Leasing a MAZDA: Pros & Cons

As mentioned previously, leasing a Mazda will save you some cash. This is because monthly payments are lower because instead of paying interest, you pay off a principal, which is the difference between the value of a new car and its expected value at the end of the lease. Other pros include:

Pros:

  • You have the opportunity to drive a car during its prime years.
  • You’ll still get new car-warranty coverage.
  • You will have access to the most latest safety features.
  • There is less stress about selling and/or trading in a car.
  • You get the chance to drive a car you normally wouldn’t be able to afford.
  • There’s the possibility of free scheduled maintenance appointments and oil changes.

And, of course, there are quite a few drawbacks to leasing a Mazda in Fond du Lac:

Cons:

  • It can cost you more than an actual auto-loan, as you are paying for a vehicle during times of sharp depreciation.
  • You are limited to a certain number of miles as specified by a lease contract.
  • There’s the possibility of paying even more at the end of your lease in the case of any wear and tear.
  • If you decide you want to break your lease, you’ll be hit with numerous fees and penalties.
  • You have to ensure that the vehicle stays in tip-top condition, as if it had never left the showroom.

If You Buy a MAZDA: Pros & Cons

The decision to buy a car is a huge one–one step below buying a home around the Appleton area. Evidently, if you choose to buy a Mazda vs. lease one, it’s completely yours, and there are many benefits when your car becomes an asset of your own, such as:

Pros:

  • No mileage limits. There is no leasing contract when you buy a car, meaning you can put on as many miles as you’d like without stressing about it.
  • You have the option to trade in or sell your vehicle down the road.
  • If your car accumulates some wear and tear, you won’t have to worry about being charged extra.
  • You have access to better fuel efficiency and the latest safety features.
  • Typically, you’ll get warranty coverage for a certain amount of time and miles.

On the other hand, some of the drawbacks if you choose to buy a Mazda include:

Cons:

  • It’s more expensive.
  • You’ll have to worry about its value. Once you leave the dealership with a new car, the value begins to depreciate dramatically.
  • Auto-insurance can be pricey. This is because lenders require you to carry full coverage until you completely pay it off.

Wisconsin Automobile Finance Laws

The process above is the general process that is recommended to everyone. But there are laws specific to this state that all Mazda dealers in Wisconsin must abide by:

  • All financing terms are final once a vehicle is delivered – This applies to dealers as well as buyers. A dealer has 14 days to cancel a sale if financing has not been secured as long as the vehicle has been delivered. A seller may cancel a sale if the car has not been delivered within 15 days of the anticipated delivery date specified in the contract.
  • There is a 3-day cooling-off period, but it only applies to vehicles sold away from the dealership – If papers were signed at a dealership, that agreement is binding.
  • Wisconsin lemon laws apply to vehicles that are new and under warranty, but not to used vehicles.
  • A dealer has 14 days to pay off your trade.
