Does Mazda have a forward collision warning system?
Mazda does have a forward collision warning system available, and as you may have guessed, they call it advanced smart city brake support. It works much like the forward collision systems you may have heard of from other manufacturers, but we can fill you in on all the details.
When is advanced smart city brake support active?
Advanced smart city brake support is for city driving where cars and people can enter the roadway fairly easily. As such, the system operates from speeds between 2 mph and 50 mph.
The system works in three stages. The first stage is detection. It is always looking for an obstacle that may pose a threat in the road ahead. If it thinks an accident is imminent, then it moves to the second stage. In the second stage, the system primes the brakes and alerts the driver. If the driver does not take action, then the third stage triggers. In the third stage, the system applies the brakes automatically.
